Choosing puppy food can feel like navigating a jungle. Should you go grain-free? With chicken, fish, or lamb? And what exactly is the difference between Puppy S/M and Puppy L/XL, and how long should your puppy eat puppy food? There are many questions, and we’ll try to help you find the answers.
The most important thing to remember is:
There is no single perfect puppy food for all puppies.
Different puppies respond differently to different types of food—just like us humans, they are all individuals.
At Monster, we therefore offer several different lines, all of the same high quality, but with different recipes and ingredients to suit different dog breeds, individual dogs, and owners’ preferences.

Monster Classic is our classic line featuring a more traditional blend of ingredients—no modern frills, just simple and proven.
Classic is perfect for those who want a classic recipe with high-quality ingredients and all of Monster’s usual health benefits.
Monster Original is our gluten-free line featuring carefully selected ingredients and recipes tailored to specific life stages and nutritional needs.
The Original line is often a popular choice for puppies
Monster Grain Free is our grain-free line.
Some puppies do wonderfully on grain-free diets, while others do better on recipes that include oats and barley, for example. It really depends on the breed and the individual dog.
All Monsters products are of the same high quality and offer our key health benefits, such as:
✅ Dental health
✅ Digestive health
✅ Skin and coat health
This is one of the most important things to consider when choosing the right dog for you, based on its breed and adult size.

Designed for small and medium-sized breeds with an adult weight of less than 25 kg.
The lining features:
Designed for large and extra-large breeds weighing over 25 kg as adults.
The lining features:
Large puppies grow quickly and need a carefully balanced diet to ensure optimal development of their bones and joints.
That is why it is important for large breeds to be fed Puppy L/XL—and not puppy food intended for small and medium-sized breeds.
It depends on the breed and how much it will weigh as an adult.
Small breeds weighing between 1 and 10 kg: 12 months (1 year).
Medium-sized breeds weighing between 10 and 25 kg: 12 months (1 year).
Large breeds weighing between 25 and 40 kg, 18 months (1.5 years).
Very large breeds weighing 40 kg or more at 24 months (2 years).
Large dogs grow over a longer period of time and therefore need puppy food for a longer period. The skeleton takes the longest to fully develop—that is, to become completely hardened and fully formed—which means that puppy food with the right balance of energy, calcium, and phosphorus is necessary for a longer period.

The most important thing is to choose:
And remember:
There isn't just one right answer. Different dogs respond differently to different diets—and that's completely normal.
