Buying a kitten? How to prepare!

By Monster Pet Food | Feb 10, 2025

Welcome home Mister and Brave!

One of the Monster family has just brought home her two kittens, Mister and Brave. We'll be following their journey and antics as they grow up in their new home. We have a first update on the kittens.

First time at home

Mister and Brave are two very curious and forward boys who have been making their way around the house like little princes since day one. Now that we have gotten to know them a little more, you notice that their personalities are growing more and more. Mister is a calm and confident guy who likes to get used to the dogs in the home. He likes to be where they are and likes to lie close and sleep. Brave is the one who talks the most, often and a lot. He is usually close to us and likes to follow us if we go somewhere. Both are very social and are happy to have company but can also cozy up to themselves in a quiet place. They both love food and exploring new places and things is great fun! They play and wrestle a lot but one, two, three they are sleeping like logs. Life as a kitten seems very wonderful!

What do you need for a kitten?

Buying a kitten is a magical experience that many look forward to. But what do you really need to create a safe and harmonious environment? Here are our top tips for preparing your home for the kitten's arrival.

1. food and water bowls: when thinking about what equipment you need for your kitten, bowls for food and moisture are a must. Choose ceramic or stainless steel bowls to avoid allergies.

2. Best cat food: When it comes to choosing the best cat food for your kitten, it's important to go for high-quality kitten food. Monster offers both kitten dry food and wet food to support their growth and development. Start by introducing the food slowly and let them adjust at their own pace.

3. litter box and sand: A good litter box is essential. Start with a box that is easy for the kitten to step into, preferably with a high rim to minimize spills. Ever Clean Litterfree Paws is highly recommended as the larger particles of sand reduce the risk of it getting caught in the paws, making litter box training easier and the home cleaner.

4. Cozy crib: Give your kitten a safe and cozy crib or soft blanket to rest in after all the day's adventures.

5 Toys: To stimulate your kitten's curiosity and energy, invest in fun toys such as small balls, feather bouncers and interactive toys.

6. Scratching post: Start early with a scratching post to teach the kitten to scratch in the right places and protect your furniture.

By thinking through these purchases carefully, your kitten will get the best start in its new home!
